Hand Rankings
A poker hand consists of five playing cards. Listed below are the hand categories from
highest to lowest. The player with the highest category hand wins.
The hand rankings remains the same no matter which type of poker game you play.
Royal Flush

The five highest cards of the same suit is the Royal Flush e.g. AKQJ10.
In the event of a tie: The pot is split between the players with the Royal Flush hands.
A Straight Flush

Five cards in sequential order, all of the same suit.
In the event of a tie: The highest straight flush wins.
Four of a kind

Four cards of the five, of the same rank.
In the event of a tie: The highest Four-of-a-kind wins. If players have the same four cards
the highest fifth card wins.
Full House

Three cards of the same rank and a pair of a different rank.
In the event of a tie: The highest three matching cards wins. If players have the same three
cards, then the highest pair wins.
Flush

Five cards of the same suit.
In the event of a tie: The highest ranked card wins. If a tie still remains the second, third,
fourth and fifth highest ranked cards determine the win.
Straight

Five cards of different suits, in sequential order.
In the event of a tie: The player with the highest ranked card at the top of the sequence wins.
Three of a kind

Three cards of the same rank, and two unrelated side cards.
In the event of a tie: The highest Three-of-a-kind wins. If players have the same three cards the
highest of the two side cards wins.
Two Pair

Two cards of the same rank, with two more cards of a different matching rank and one side card.
In the event of a tie: The highest pair of cards wins. If players have the same highest pair, the
second highest wins. If these are the same the highest side card determines the win.
One Pair

Two cards of the same rank, and three unrelated side cards.
In the event of a tie: The highest pair of cards wins. If players have the same pair, the highest
side card wins. If necessary, the second and third highest side card determines the win.
High Card

If a hand does not fit in any other category, it is judged by high cards.
In the event of a tie: The highest card wins. If a tie still remains the second, third, fourth
and fifth highest card determines the win.
